Franchise Training Info & Tips
The wonderful world of franchise training programs, of course!
As with pretty much anything you do in life, franchise ownership comes bundled with the usual training and coursework that your franchisor has in place for you to learn the ropes. Depending on which business you choose to partner with, you will be dealing with different content and formatting to your training.
The most commonly used franchise training materials are:
- reading manuals
- watching videos
- taking classes with corporate
- visiting other local franchisees
- sending staff to training
- etc.
The possibilities are pretty much limited to the imaginations of the corporate office. Strap up your backpack and hit the books. This stuff is important!
Learn to keep a solid schedule
Whether or not you already have experience in business before coming into franchising, you need to be able to set a schedule for yourself. Staying involved and planning time at your location as well as promoting the business is a must-have skill.
Your tasks are going to incorporate everything from in-location services training to set up of digital and classic marketing tactics to generate buzz and get word out about your grand opening. You and your partners are going to need to learn to communicate, plan, and tackle all of the things coming your way.
Decide what is important, what can wait, and what is the best use of your time.
Your franchisor can help you to identify the things you need to get done before you think about purring that open sign out front. They know what it takes to accomplish each task and in what order they should be completed. They have been through this all before and can help you make your way through it. That is what franchising is all about.
Learn to work with a checklist
A checklist might seem like a little thing that you have to remember to do but it can give you huge results that will lead to you getting open and started for business more quickly.
Try out the “reminders” app on the iPhone. It gives you a great way to check things off as they are completed. It’s nice to have something like that in your pocket all of the time.
You can help yourself to prioritize all of the tasks that you have from your franchisor, get their times written down, get the amount of time you think you will need for each one, and see it visually in front of you with things you can mark off task by task.
Using the experience of others
You had options when going the route of self-employment. you chose to franchise for your own slew of different reasons. Did you like the fact that so much work has already been done for you when you choose to franchise?

You are part of a team that wants everyone to win and pools resources to help everyone as a whole. You are becoming part of something bigger than yourself with the possibility of meeting thousands of other motivatied individuals like yourself.
